Bokamorra is one of the most recognizable names on Split’s food scene and one of the pioneers of the city’s new wave of pizzerias and cocktail bars. Located at Trumbićeva obala 16 on Split’s West Coast, it is just a few minutes’ walk from the Riva, Matejuška and the historic city centre. Since opening in 2017, Bokamorra has built a distinctive concept where pizza and cocktails are equally important parts of the experience.
Behind Bokamorra are Ela and Luka Bokavšek, also known for Split’s Bokeria. Rather than opening another traditional pizzeria, they created a concept they called a “pizzaurant” – combining a serious approach to pizza with a cocktail bar and a striking interior.
The inspiration for the pizza came from Naples, but Bokamorra developed its own recipe and style. The dough is left to mature for 48 hours, while the pizzas are baked in a specially made Neapolitan oven covered in a golden mosaic. The result is a light pizza with airy crusts and creative combinations of quality ingredients that have become one of Bokamorra’s trademarks.
The Bokamorra menu goes far beyond a classic Margherita. Signature pizzas include Mortadelicious with mortadella, pistachios and stracciatella, Cheezus with several types of cheese, Tartufizza with truffles and Che kozica with smoked prawns. Bokamorra has also experimented with sweet pizzas, including Smokvizza with figs, goat cheese, pistachios and honey, and Slatkizza with white chocolate and raspberries.
Cocktails have been an equally important part of Bokamorra from the very beginning. The venue was among those that helped develop Split’s modern cocktail scene, with house-made syrups, infusions and original recipes. The cocktail menu combines signature creations with well-known classics, while international bartenders have also made guest appearances behind the Bokamorra bar over the years.
The interior, designed by Ela Bokavšek, is just as recognizable. A golden pizza oven, green marble bar, brass details and stained-glass arches give Bokamorra a look that is difficult to confuse with any other pizzeria. There is also an outdoor terrace on the West Coast, close to the sea and Matejuška.
Bokamorra is a great choice for lunch, dinner, pizza with friends or an evening of cocktails. During the summer months and on weekends, it is one of the more popular spots in this part of Split, so booking a table in advance is recommended.
If you are looking for great pizza in Split, want to explore the Bokamorra menu, or simply want to combine pizza and excellent cocktails in one place, book your table at Bokamorra online through Table Joe, quickly and easily, 24/7.
